Moderation & Appeals
How content moderation works on Elevate, how discipline points accumulate, and how to appeal a decision you think was made in error.
Reporting content
If you see a post, comment, or profile that violates our community guidelines, click the report icon on the content. Reports on the same piece of content are grouped into a single case for a moderator to review. You can see your own submitted reports in My Reports.
Automated content review
Content is also checked by an automated AI system when you submit it. If the system is confident the content violates our guidelines on hate speech, violence, sexual content, or self-harm, the content is removed immediately and a tombstone replaces it on your feed.
Automated decisions are always appealable. You can view the reason, the detected categories, and file an appeal from your moderation history.
Discipline points
Each violation can add discipline points to your account. Points decay over time (most expire after a set number of days) or are immediately reversed if your appeal is approved. When your active point total crosses a threshold, the next action is automatic.
Thresholds
| Level | At points | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Warning | 10 | No automatic action; your account is flagged for moderator review. |
| Mute | 25 | You cannot create new content for 7 days. You can still read, comment, and appeal. |
| Suspend | 50 | Your account is temporarily suspended for 30 days. You can appeal from the banned page. |
| Ban | 100 | Your account is permanently banned. You can still appeal. Auto-bans are reviewed by a moderator before taking permanent effect. |
The number of points assigned for a specific violation depends on its severity and is set by the moderation team when resolving a report.
Appeals
You can appeal any moderation action on your own content and any active ban. Each action or ban can be appealed once. If your first appeal is rejected, the decision is final for that item — but a new moderation action on new content creates a new appealable target.
Cooldown: if you have 3 or more appeals rejected within the last 30 days, new appeals are temporarily blocked to prevent queue abuse.
Submitted appeals are visible on the My Appeals page.
